Learn French Online: The Sound Of The Consonants.

C + e, i, y = S (like s in sit)

Ex.: ce – cette – ciel – cil – citadelle – cycliste

C ( ç ) + a, o, u = S (like s in sit)

Ex.: garçon – caleçon – leçon – maçon – français – reçu

C (at the end of the word) = K

Ex.: sac – bec – lac – ammoniac

Attention! There are some rare cases where the C at the end of the word doesn`t sounds as the K.

Ex.:
  • caoutchouc
  • tronc
